MIDDLEBOROUGH — The Town of Middleborough responded to a large-scale power outage that led to the loss of power to a majority of residents in Town.
Power was fully restored around 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, according to Town Manager Jay McGrail.
At about 5 p.m. Tuesday, the Town of Middleborough was notified by Middleborough Gas & Electric of a significant power outage that began affecting a majority of electric customers in town.
Due to the dangerous temperatures and heightened heat index, the Town immediately opened the Nichols Middle School to serve as a cooling center for anyone in need. Pets were welcome at the Nichols Middle School cooling center.
Additionally, the Middleborough Public Library was opened until late in the evening and was open to anyone who needed to cool off. Pets were not welcome at the library, though.
