IPSWICH — Chief Paul Nikas and the Ipswich Police Department would like to remind residents of the department’s Safe Watch Program.
The Safe Watch Program is a voluntary initiative that assists first responders in quickly accessing vital information about individuals with specific medical needs or disabilities during emergencies.
Residents, family members, and caregivers can fill out the Safe Watch Program form on the department website here. Individuals who could benefit from providing this information include those on the autism spectrum, individuals who have memory issues such as Dementia or Alzheimer’s, those who are hard of hearing, use oxygen at home, or anyone with special or specific needs.
This reminder is in response to a recent power outage that affected residents across the community. While there were no reports of significant emergencies, Ipswich Police wants to remind residents about the program in an effort to maintain the community’s safety.
“This program allows us to collect vital information about some of our vulnerable populations within our community, allowing us to assist them more efficiently when responding to crises or emergencies,” said Chief Nikas.
Those who have questions about the Safe Watch Program should contact Sgt. Charles Ciccotelli at cciccoteli@ipswichpolice.org and Officer Jalen Howard at jhoward@ipswichpolice.org.
