The Town of Ipswich and The Trustees of Reservations Provide Update on Installation of Parking Lot Lines in Both The Trustees’ and Ipswich Resident Parking Areas

IPSWICH – The Town of Ipswich, in partnership with The Trustees of Reservations, shares that successful painting of parking spaces in the public non-resident Crane Beach lot will continue this year.

Crane’s Beach is one of the most-visited Trustees properties each year, as it combines beach, trails, and conservation areas suitable for many outdoor activities. Over the years, The Trustees has carefully managed parking in their lot to ensure that the lot is parked safely and efficiently.

Last summer, an outside contractor was hired by The Trustees to delineate spaces using environmentally friendly turf paint in a portion of their lot. Lines are temporary and are repainted each month throughout the summer to maintain visibility. As a result, visitors can clearly see where to park, reducing confusion and traffic congestion. This change has freed Trustees’ staff to perform property stewardship and maintenance duties.

This summer, as an experiment, the Town will undertake line painting in the Ipswich Resident Lot. Lines are expected to be refreshed from time to time as the summer progresses. The Town is confident that residents will appreciate the ability to park without direction from a lot attendant, as has been the practice over many decades. The Trustees, as always, will work with the Parks and Cemeteries Department and the DPW to help monitor the lot as necessary.

“The Town and Trustees both recognize the importance of their properties in Ipswich, and we greatly appreciate their partnership and collaboration,” Town Manager Stephen Crane said. “The beach is a major New England attraction, and these steps ensure our residents and visitors have the best experience possible.”
