SEEKONK — Superintendent Rebecca Kidwell and Principal Dr. William V. Whalen III are pleased to share that Seekonk High School recently held a special signing ceremony to recognize 11 members of the Class of 2025 who plan to pursue careers in education.
The event, held on Wednesday, May 22, is part of Seekonk High School’s annual Future Teacher Signing Day, which mirrors the tradition of athletic signing ceremonies by honoring students who are committing to studying education in college.
Superintendent Kidwell and Principal Whalen led the ceremony, which was attended by families, faculty and peers. It celebrated the students’ dedication to becoming educators — a profession vital to the success of every community.
“As Principal of this school, I know firsthand how critical teachers are to the success of our students,” said Principal Dr. Whalen. “Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the minds and futures of kids. They inspire, guide and challenge students to reach their full potential, and they do so with dedication, passion and care.”
Each student was called forward and presented with a certificate of recognition to commemorate their commitment to entering the field of education. The following students were honored:
- Olivia Botelho – Curry College
- Olivia Brown – Bridgewater State University
- Angel Clifford – Bridgewater State University
- Riley Connell – University of Rhode Island
- Madison Garvey – Bridgewater State University
- Abigail Hartling – Bristol Community College
- Kylee Jenkins – Bridgewater State University
- Adriana McShane – Bridgewater State University
- Hannah Mello – Coastal Carolina University
- Caitlyn Oliveira – Bridgewater State University
- Lyla Owens – University of Rhode Island
The event reflects Seekonk High School’s ongoing commitment to celebrating students who choose careers that serve and support their communities.
“By recognizing our future educators, we hope to elevate the importance of the teaching profession and encourage more young people to follow this meaningful path,” said Superintendent Kidwell.
