*MEDIA ADVISORY* Ludlow Police, Parade Committee to Host Bike Parade and Safety Rodeo Ahead of Memorial Day

LUDLOW — The Town of Ludlow will be celebrating community, patriotism and safety during a special event on Saturday, a Children’s Bike Parade and Safety Rodeo, hosted by the Ludlow Parade Committee and Ludlow Police.

WHEN:

Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

WHERE:

The parade path starts at the Mills Clock Tower parking lot, 100 State St., proceeds to the Riverwalk Path, and ends at the Sole Syndicate Brewing Parking lot.

WHAT:

The Ludlow Bike Parade and Rodeo was started last year as part of the Town’s 250th celebrations and was so popular that it is being brought back for another year.

Community members ages Kindergarten through Grade 5 are invited to decorate anything they can push, pull, tow or pedal as part of the Bike Parade.

Prior to the parade, Ludlow Police will conduct bike safety inspections, including general bike checks and helmet fittings. Then, decorations will be judged.

Prizes will be awarded to children who excel in the categories of silliest, most creative and most patriotic. Prizes for the winners are being donated by local toy store, PLAYNOW!

All winners will be welcomed to participate in the Town’s Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26.

Every child who participates will be awarded a free, homemade ice cream cone, courtesy of Randall’s Farm, as well as a gift card from PLAYNOW!

After the parade, participants and spectators will gather in the parking lot of Sole Syndicate Brewing (formerly known as Iron Duke) for the awards ceremony and a Safety Rodeo hosted by the Ludlow Police Department.

Ludlow Police received a 2024 Municipal Road Safety grant, courtesy of the Office of Grants & Research, that helped to make the Safety Rodeo portion of the event possible.

Kids will learn about traffic and hand signals and ride through a safety obstacle course alongside an officer.

The Department will also debut its new e-bikes, which were generously donated by the Ludlow Rotary Club.

Sponsors and community organizations helping to make this event possible include Randall’s Farm, PLAYNOW!, Sole Syndicate Brewing, and the Ludlow Police Department.
