ATTLEBORO — Chief Scott T. Lachance reports that the Attleboro Fire Department responded to a series of emergency incidents during a busy overnight shift, including a life-threatening medical emergency and a residential fire, demonstrating the department’s ongoing commitment to public safety.
Stabbing Incident on South Main Street
On Thursday, May 22, at approximately 9 p.m., Attleboro Fire responded to 216 South Main St. following reports of a stabbing.
First responders arrived quickly and located an adult male with a serious abdominal wound.
A team of three paramedics provided critical care on scene and during transport to a local trauma center.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries, but his condition is not immediately available.
The Attleboro Police Department is actively investigating the incident.
Fire on Highland Street
On Friday, May 23, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Attleboro Fire responded to a report of a fire at 9 Highland St.
Upon arrival, crews found a small fire in a room that had been partially suppressed by a resident using a fire extinguisher.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the remaining flames and prevented the fire from spreading to other areas of the structure.
Crews remained on scene for about 45 minutes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
Additional Department Responses
In addition to these major incidents, the Attleboro Fire Department responded to eight other emergency calls from 9 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday, many of which occurred during the spring nor’easter.
“We’re proud of the rapid, professional response our firefighters and paramedics demonstrated last night,” said Chief Lachance. “Their quick actions and teamwork are exactly what our community counts on during emergencies.”
