*MEDIA ADVISORY* Lenox Seniors to Participate in Narcan Training on Last Day of High School, Thanks to Local Organizations

LENOX — Lenox Memorial Middle High School (LMMHS) seniors will have the opportunity to participate in a free naloxone (Narcan) training on their last day of high school, hosted by Berkshire Harm Reduction.

WHEN:

Friday, May 23, from 9-10 a.m.

WHERE:

Lenox Memorial Middle High School, 197 East St., Lenox

WHAT:

Each year, LMMHS seniors are treated to a special breakfast to celebrate their final day of high school.

This year, the meal will be followed by an important training conducted by Berkshire Harm Reduction, which strives to reduce the negative consequences associated with drug use, such as the spread of infectious diseases.

Students will learn about Narcan, a treatment designed to rapidly reverse the effects of a life-threatening opioid emergency, the importance of having it readily available, and how to administer it in the event of an emergency.

Program Manager Sarah DeJesus and Lead Harm Reductionist Mike Matysiewicz from Berkshire Harm Reduction, LMMHS school counselors, as well as members of the Lenox Fire Department, will be on hand to conduct the Narcan training, as well as cover additional topics such as STIs.

Former state Rep. Smitty Pignatelli will attend, because he has worked to ensure Narcan is a readily available resource throughout Berkshire County during his time in the Legislature.
