WAKEFIELD — Executive Director Margie Daniels of the Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) is proud to announce the winners of the 2024-2025 Public Service Announcement (PSA) Project. This year, participating students were challenged to create a video PSA featuring the theme “COMMUNITY, Together We Can Achieve Greatness!”

The 2024–2025 PSA Project invited students from MPY member districts throughout Massachusetts to visually represent what “COMMUNITY” means to them. Through creativity and collaboration, students were encouraged to showcase how acts of kindness, volunteerism and unity strengthen our neighborhoods and schools.

A group of 24 10th, 11th and 12th-grade students from Lynn English High School created the winning high school division video, titled “Bring Unity to Your Community.” The students who participated in the project are Zachary Aguirre, Alana Auth, Soren Beauchamp, Alondra Blanco, Brayan Hercules, Heidi Mendex, Cinthia Padilla, Jancarlo Hilerio, Will Ireti, Jacob Johnson, Allison Lobo, Luis Lopez, Jaylen Mabuka, Abe Martinez, Charlie Mendex, Matt Nolasco, Ryan Ouen, Misael Solano, Franyeliz Pena, Colby Prentiss, Eliyana Rios, Chesi Garcia, Kim Solis and Jose Diaz.

The video explores the benefits of community service and how small acts and lending a helping hand can create a ripple effect. The video also discusses the importance of embracing differences and celebrating shared humanity.

A team of three seventh-grade students from Wilmington Middle School — Harper Hill, Ella Hill and Mia Vargas — created the winning video in the middle school division titled “What Does Community Mean?” The students created an acrostic for the word “COMMUNITY,” giving each letter a meaning — Caring, Open-mindedness, Meaningful, Motivation, Unity, Nice, Inclusion, Thoughtful and You.

Two high schools also received Honorable Mentions this year.

Five 9th and 10th-grade Newton North High School students — Quinn Durken, Matthew Salgado, Jaylin Pryor, Ari Finamore and Tanisha Choudhury — received an Honorable Mention for their video titled “Domino Effect,” which showed the importance of paying it forward.

And 10th grader Jackson Slubowski at Winchester High School received an Honorable Mention for his video titled “A Can’s Journey,” which depicted the importance of cleaning up your community.

Entries were judged by teams including school administrators, visual arts and technology professionals, community members and MPY staff.

“I am truly inspired by the remarkable creativity, passion and thoughtfulness that our student entrants demonstrated in this year’s Public Service Announcement Project,” Executive Director Daniels said. “It is clear that they are committed to promoting positive change in their communities, and we are proud to support and showcase the voices of these inspiring young leaders.”
