BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that Bridgewater Police Detectives and Task Force Officers arrested a Bridgewater man Friday on possession of child pornography charges following a month-long investigation.
ROBERT L. WOOD, AGE 26, of BRIDGEWATER, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Child Pornography
- Distributing Material of a Child in a Sexual Act
On Friday, May 16, at approximately 6 a.m., Bridgewater Police Detectives and Task Force Officers, with assistance from members of the WEB Task Force and the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, executed a search warrant at WOOD’s residence. Subsequently, WOOD was taken into custody.
Bridgewater Police Detectives are members of the ICAC Task Force, which investigates cases involving child sexual abuse material.
The investigation began when police received information that WOOD was allegedly in possession of and distributing child sexual abuse material. Bridgewater Police ICAC investigators received a cyber tip regarding a social media account possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material files.
WOOD was taken into custody without incident and was taken to the Bridgewater Police Department to be booked.
WOOD is expected to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
