North Middlesex Regional High School teacher and department chair Rebecca Jackson Toch is being honored for her commitment to civics education by peers statewide.
Jackson Toch was awarded the 2025 Don Salvucci Award by the Massachusetts Council for the Social Studies for her unwavering dedication to fostering civic understanding and student engagement. The award, named in honor of a former MCSS president, honors one educator each year who champions democratic ideals.
Jackson Toch received the award at a ceremony at the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation in Waltham on April 29.
“Ms. Jackson Toch is a leader both in and out of the classroom,” said Principal Laurie Smith, who nominated Jackson. “Through her passion and dedication, she has inspired students to think critically, lead with purpose, and become active citizens. We are thrilled to see her efforts honored statewide.”
Jackson Toch serves numerous roles at NMRHS, as teacher, Social Studies Department Chair, and Student Council Co-Advisor. She also advises the NMRHS chapter of the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, which encourages excellence in Social Studies among high school juniors and seniors.
