Town of Swansea Shares Information Ahead of Upcoming Special Town Meeting and Annual Town Meeting on May 19

SWANSEA 一 The Swansea Board of Selectmen along with Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein wish to share some important information with community members before the upcoming Annual Town Meeting and Special Town Meeting on May 19.

Swansea’s Special Town Meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, May 19, in the Joseph Case High School auditorium at 70 School St. The Annual Town Meeting will follow in the same location, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

During the Special Town Meeting, Swansea voters will consider eight Warrant Articles. Article topics include replacing and upgrading the public safety communication system used by the Fire, Police and Highway departments, repairs to Fire Station 1, the purchase of airbag rescue equipment for the Fire Department, funding for a Beach Management Plan and funding for the design and permitting of the Marvel Street Culvert project.

During the Annual Town Meeting, Swansea residents will be asked to consider 29 Warrant Articles, including the annual Fiscal Year budget. Additional article topics include zoning bylaw changes, Community Preservation Act funding for door repairs at a Housing Authority property, the purchase of three new police cruisers, the purchase of firefighter turnout gear, conducting a town tree inventory, funding for memorials at the Veterans Green, adoption of the Hero Act and land acquisition for sewer pump stations.
