WEST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Timothy Nixon reports that the West Bridgewater Police Department arrested and charged a Brockton man with attempted murder following an assault in a home on Thursday night.
MARIO RAUL BABBS, AGE 38, of BROCKTON, was charged with:
- Attempted Murder
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
- Assault and Battery
On Thursday, May 8, at approximately 11 p.m., West Bridgewater Police responded to a Spring Street residence after receiving two 911 calls reporting a man was severely bleeding from the neck.
Officers responded and located an East Bridgewater man with a towel around his neck, attempting to control the bleeding. The West Bridgewater Fire Department responded and transported the man, age 36, by ambulance to Boston Medical Center – South in Brockton. His condition is unknown.
Through an investigation, West Bridgewater Police determined that an altercation occurred inside the home, where several people known to one another were gathered. The investigation revealed that BABBS forcibly entered a bedroom and stabbed the East Bridgewater man several times in the head and neck area.
The investigation revealed that BABBS then ran from the home. Officer Richard Flaherty and K-9 Fedor responded and located BABBS in a nearby wooded area.
BABBS was taken into custody without incident and transported to Boston Medical Center – South, while in custody. He was later brought to the West Bridgewater Police Department for booking.
BABBS is expected to be arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
