ACTON — The Town of Acton would like to share the following information on Community Lane road work that will begin on Tuesday, May 13.
On Tuesday, May 13, MassDOT’s contractor, MGI Corporation, will begin major road reconstruction work on Community Lane, which connects Mass Ave to Main Street and provides access to many local businesses. The roadwork will involve pulling up the asphalt and excavating the road. The work is expected to take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
During this time, Community Lane will be closed to all traffic.
There will be minimal impact on business parking on Community Lane. Parking for Santander will be adjusted, and police details will be staffing to provide residents with alternate routes.
During this portion of the project, Community Lane will be a dirt road for about a week before being repaved.
The road work is being done as part of the Kelley’s Corner Infrastructure Project. The project is expected to be completed within the next year. A few years ago, Acton Town Meeting voters renamed Community Lane to Caroll Spinney Way in honor of the late Acton resident and artist Caroll Spinney, who played Big Bird on the television show Sesame Street. The new name will be implemented once the Kelley’s Corner project is completed.
The Town of Acton thanks residents and business owners for their understanding during this process.
Residents who have questions regarding the roadwork are asked to contact Kristen Guichard at planning@actonma.gov.
