LITTLETON — Superintendent Dr. Kelly Clenchy, Principal Michelle Kane and Assistant Principal Rebecca Deacon share that students celebrated each other during Shaker Lane School’s May Spirit Day, Picture This Day, on May 8.
Picture This Day was designed to celebrate all grade levels at Shaker Lane. The school held its last Community Meeting of the school year outside on the hardtop with the entire school population.
Each grade level was assigned a color, and the students were asked to wear that color to school. With the entire school community gathered together, a staff member captured a photo of everyone in the shape of “SLS” for Shaker Lane School, showcasing student and staff pride.
During the celebration, students were selected to share one thing they learned this year. Students shared that they learned about the seven continents, how to be kind and to be a good friend, as well as how to read. One student shared that they learned “about showing H.E.A.R.T.,” Shaker Lane’s core values of Honesty, Effort, Acceptance, Respect and Take Responsibility.
Then, each grade level sang a song they had been practicing for the rest of the school community. Songs included “If You’re Happy and You Know It”, “The Penguin Song”, “The Morning Song” and “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars. To close out the ceremony, everyone joined in to sing the Shaker Lane School song.
“Shaker Lane School is filled with so much pride,” said Assistant Principal Rebecca Deacon. “Our students and staff care so much about one another, and lift each other up each day. Picture This Day was incredibly special, allowing a space for students to share what they’ve learned and showcase their love for our community.”
