WENHAM — Police Chief Kevin DiNapoli is pleased to share that the Wenham Police Department is recognizing the 20-year career of Sgt. David Marsh upon his retirement.
Sgt. Marsh began his career as a first responder by serving as a firefighter in the Town of Swampscott, where he rose to the rank of lieutenant between 1995 and 2005. While also serving as a firefighter, Marsh also worked as a reserve police officer in Hamilton from 1997 to 2005.
It was in 2005 that Sgt. Marsh first joined Wenham Police as a reserve officer. He completed the police academy and joined Wenham Police as a full-time officer in 2008.
Sgt. Marsh was promoted to sergeant in 2019, and continued to serve as a supervisor until his retirement on Wednesday, April 29. Sgt. Marsh holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Southern New Hampshire University.
In a final radio call to Sgt. Marsh on Wednesday, dispatchers from the North Shore Regional 911 Center noted his compassion, professionalism, and dedication to the job as they wished him well in retirement.

Marsh. “To my fellow sergeants, Command staff and officers, your bravery and commitment have been the cornerstone of our success. I retire with immense pride in the work we’ve done together and the legacy of service we’ve built.”
“Sgt. Marsh is extremely humble, but his professionalism, compassion, and dedication to duty made him an excellent leader within this department for two decades,” said Chief DiNapoli. “He will be deeply missed. His service to this community will be difficult to replace.”
