LITTLETON — Superintendent Dr. Kelly Clenchy, Principal Michelle Kane and Assistant Principal Rebecca Deacon share that students celebrated a love of reading during Book Day, Shaker Lane’s April Spirit Day.
Book Day was created to further Shaker Lane’s mission to instill a love for reading in its students.
Students were encouraged to bring in their favorite book to school to share with others, as well as dress up as their favorite book character. Shaker Lane staff also joined in on the fun, dressing up as characters from their favorite stories.
One student dressed up as Junie B. Jones, based on the book “Junie B. Jones: First Grader at Last!,” while another dressed up as Harry Potter. First-grade teacher Jessica Dussi dressed up as Ms. Frizzle from the beloved series by Joanna Cole, “The Magic School Bus.”
“Learning to read makes everything come alive and is the bridge to building knowledge,” said Assistant Principal Deacon. “As Dr. Seuss once said, ‘The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.'”
