BRIDGEWATER — Chief John Schlatz reports that the Bridgewater Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Redwing Drive early Thursday morning.
On Thursday, May 1, at approximately 4 a.m., the Bridgewater Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 10 Redwing Drive.
On arrival, Engine 1 confirmed a fire in the home’s basement and made an entry to conduct a primary search while the Ambulance 2 crew stretched a line to the basement for fire suppression.
Tower 1 assisted with extinguishment, ventilation and overhaul. Chief Schlatz assumed command of the scene and declared a working fire with Deputy Chief Glen Grafton assigned as Operations.
“We would like to thank our mutual aid partners who provided engines to the scene, including Raynham, Middleborough and Easton, which was assigned as the Rapid Intervention Team,” said Chief Schlatz. “East Bridgewater also provided an Engine for station coverage. Cooperation between our departments consistently contributes toward saving lives and structures.”
The building was unoccupied and undergoing renovation. Occupants were already staying off site, so no residents were displaced by the fire.
Bridgewater Fire Department’s Capt. Craig Nedell responded in Car 5 as the Fire Prevention Officer and conducted the fire investigation, which is ongoing.
All companies cleared the scene at 6:10 a.m.
