LENOX — Superintendent Dr. William Collins is pleased to share that Lenox Public Schools will be hosting a variety of events for the community to participate in International Screen-Free Week.
International Screen-Free Week, celebrated every year in the first week of May, is an invitation to switch off electronic devices and engage in activities to connect with the world and each other.
Lenox Public Schools and various organizations will be offering events throughout the week so community members can join in the celebration.
Events hosted by LPS include:
- “A Night Under the Stars” with the author of “Sky Gazing,” Meg Thacher, at Morris Elementary on Friday, May 2, at 8:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars to this event if they have them, as well as chairs and/or blankets.
- Family Game Night at LMMHS on Monday, May 5, at 6 p.m.
- “Books Before Bed” at Morris Elementary on Wednesday, May 8, at 6 p.m.
Community organizations are partnering with the District to host events, including a story time for ages 15 months and older on May 8 at 10:30 a.m., and a “Meet the Author” event on May 10 at 1 p.m., both at the Lenox Library, 18 Main St.
Lenox Community Center, 65 Walker St., will host a Family Art Night on May 6 at 5:30 p.m. A yoga session with Amy Higgins will be held at Lilac Park on May 7 at 5 p.m.
All events are free to attend and open to all.
“We are excited to be participating in Screen-Free Week this year,” said Dr. Collins. “The administration at Morris Elementary and LMMHS, and our community partners, have done a fantastic job curating an array of events to celebrate. Lenox is a special community, and we’re looking forward to disengaging from screens and connecting with one another!”
