DIGHTON — Chief Christopher Maguy reports that the Dighton Fire Department and its mutual-aid partners are at the scene of a working fire at a single-family home.
At 5:06 p.m. Thursday, April 24, Dighton firefighters responded to 910 Middle St. after receiving a call from a resident about a fire in a closet off the kitchen, on the first floor. Upon arrival, crews discovered that the homeowner had put out the visible fire. Crews remain on scene to see if there is any extension of fire into the walls.
There are no injuries.
On-scene mutual aid was provided by Berkley and Taunton crews. The Swansea (Station 1) and Rehoboth (Station 2) Fire Departments provided station coverage.
Dighton firefighters and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the blaze.
