SOUTH EASTON — Southeastern Regional School District hosted its official STEM Addition Handover Ceremony, welcoming state legislators, district leadership, staff, students, and construction partners. The ceremony marks the end of the construction phase of the project. Students in the school’s electricity, carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing programs will complete the interior fit-out with an anticipated completion date in early 2026.
Superintendent Holly McClanan opened the ceremony by highlighting the funding sources for the building, including a facility expansion grant from the Skills Workforce Cabinet, and discussed the positive impact of the new facility. She noted Southeastern will now be able to expand its Chapter 74 programming, enabling the school to increase enrollment and better meet the rising demand for vocational education.
“This building will add pathways in Robotics, Automation, and trades that align with the growing renewable energy sector, including offshore wind, solar technologies, and more,” said Jarrod Lussier, one of Southeastern’s Vocational Supervisors. “This building reflects the world our students are preparing to enter and lead.”
State legislators and key stakeholders were in attendance at the ceremony, underscoring the broad support and shared commitment that have guided this project since its inception. Their engagement and advocacy have been instrumental in advancing the vision for the new facility, which will serve as a valuable resource for students, educators, and the wider community for years to come.
Closing the event, Superintendent McClanan accepted a ceremonial key to the building, symbolizing the formal project transition of the STEM Addition from the construction phase led by construction partners, Construction Dynamics (CDI), PCA360, and Drummey Rosane Anderson, Inc. (DRA) to the school district and its students.
In addition to thanking the partners, Superintendent McClanan said, “This project is a tangible representation of our belief that students don’t have to wait for the future — they can build it now.”
