Newburyport Police Seek Information After Pedestrian Was Struck by Vehicle

NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Matthew Simons reports that the Newburyport Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon on Low Street.

NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Matthew Simons reports that the Newburyport Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon on Low Street.

Officers were called to the area of 232 Low St. around 3:12 p.m. Friday, April 18, after reports of a pedestrian being struck.

Upon arrival, officers found an elderly woman, approximately 75 years old, laying on the ground. She had sustained facial lacerations and a significant shoulder injury.

According to a preliminary investigation, the woman was struck while in a crosswalk by a black Toyota Highlander. The operator of that vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

The injured woman was transported to a hospital in Portsmouth, N.H., where her condition is unknown.

The investigation remains ongoing, and Newburyport Police are seeking witnesses to this incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 978-462-4411, ext. 1.
