Fairhaven Police Department Commends Off Duty Officers for Their Life-Saving Actions

FAIRHAVEN — The Fairhaven Police Department would like to commend off-duty Rochester Police Officer Daniel Allende and retired UMass Dartmouth Police Officer Ernest Belliveau for their life-saving actions Wednesday afternoon.

At 3:33 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, an elderly Acushnet resident, suffered an apparent medical emergency while driving and crashed her vehicle into a pole on Main Street in Fairhaven.

Both officers witnessed this and quickly sprung to action.

Retired Officer Belliveau found the female unconscious and smashed the vehicles
window to gain access.

After realizing the female was not breathing and had no pulse, the officers
quickly began CPR until Fairhaven Medics arrived to continue life saving efforts.

Under care from the Fairhaven Fire Department paramedics, the female eventually regained a pulse and is currently in an intensive care unit at a local hospital.

Thank you to Officer Allende, Officer Belliveau, and the Fairhaven Fire Department paramedics for a job well done. The quick action by all of these amazing first responders has made a difference.
