SWANSEA — Deputy Fire Chief Michael Patterson reports that the Swansea Fire Department extinguished a house fire on Mount Fair Circle early this morning.
On Friday, April 11, at approximately 3:47 a.m., the Swansea Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a house fire at 262 Mount Fair Circle.
On arrival, crews observed heavy smoke coming from the house, and residents were in the process of evacuating the home, including removing several pets.
Firefighters stretched two hose lines and located a fire confined to one bedroom. They quickly extinguished the fire, which originated on a mattress.
Firefighters credit a resident who witnessed the fire and closed the bedroom door for helping prevent it from spreading further. The fire was contained within the bedroom, and there was minor smoke damage throughout the home.
No one was injured as a result of the fire, and the residents were not displaced.
The Warren Fire Department provided station coverage.
The cause of the fire appears to be accidental but remains under investigation by the Swansea Fire Department.
“Thanks to the resident who closed the bedroom door when they found the fire, their actions really helped keep the flames at bay until we arrived and were able to get a handline into action,” Deputy Chief Patterson said. “Our crews did a great job quickly getting to the source of the fire to prevent potential widespread damage.”
