WAREHAM — Superintendent Matt D’Andrea and DECA Advisor Lisa Cunha are excited to announce that Wareham High School’s DECA Chapter plans to hold its first-ever Community Yard Sale event on May 3.
“This event has been in the works for a while and Wareham DECA is excited to bring this to life!” said DECA member Lily Hagen. “We all wanted to do the Community Yard Sale and are very excited for it.”
The fundraising yard sale will take place in the front Wareham High School (WHS) parking lot, 7 Viking Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. Vendors will be able to rent out spots and sell goods and/or services. The day will also include food trucks, laser tag, and many other events for all ages.
DECA members Priscilla Ross and Sienna Cabe are leading the organizational effort behind the event. Other students in Wareham High School’s DECA program have also been working to coordinate and plan the event.
Students will volunteer at the event by checking vendors in, guiding guests, and helping the community navigate the Yard Sale.
Wareham DECA is an organization and extra-curricular club at Wareham High School that prepares emerging entrepreneurs and leaders in management, marketing, finance, and hospitality. DECA applies skills learned in the classroom to real-world business scenarios.
“This is an opportunity for bargain-hunters, our hard-working DECA students, and the entire Wareham community to converge at an event that promises fun for all ages and interests,” said Superintendent D’Andrea. “Hopefully this Community Yard Sale will become an annual tradition.”
