CANTON — Chief Wendell Robery reports that the Canton Fire Department responded to the scene of a train and tractor-trailer collision at the railroad crossing on Pine Street in Canton.
Firefighters responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call at 1:40 p.m.
One occupant on the train suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
“The truck was coming from Bolivar Street, driving along Pine Street, heading toward Stoughton, when the train hit the truck,” Chief Robery said at the scene. “Luckily, the driver is OK.”
The driver of the truck was not injured. There were passengers on the train at the time of the collision. A bus arrived to pick up the remaining passengers.
Canton Police responded to the scene to help detour traffic around the railroad crossing.
MBTA Transit Police also responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation.
Canton Fire Department’s Engine 3, Ambulance 1, and Command Car responded to the scene.
“Let this serve as a reminder to pay close attention at Canton’s many railroad crossings,” said Chief Robery. “Luckily, there were no major injuries this time, but this could have been much worse.”
