WOBURN — Principal Robert Nickerson is pleased to share that Malcolm White Elementary School students made a “kindness chain” to recognize the power of kindness.
Malcolm White students practiced the school’s guiding principals of “P.A.W.S” — Practice Respect, Act Responsibly, Work Hard, Safety Matters — by creating a kindness chain.
The chain is made out of construction paper links, each with an example of kindness written on it. Each student created approximately one foot of chain, or about five links. The final chain was about 300 feet long.
On Friday, March 28, students gathered in the gymnasium to raise the chain together in front of special visitors Mayor Mike Concannon, Superintendent Matthew Crowley, and School Committee members Mike Mulrenan and Jessie Wetzel.
“Everything we do at Malcolm White begins with kindness,” said Principal Nickerson. “This was a great event for our students to reflect on the value of kindness and it was even better to have the support of city and school officials.”
The event happened shortly after the City of Woburn’s second annual Kindness Day, which was held on March 20. The day featured a full day of events hosted in collaboration with community partners in an effort to “make kindness contagious.”
