IPSWICH — Ipswich Police Lt. Jonathan Hubbard, who serves as the Town of Ipswich’s Emergency Management Director, has been recognized by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) for completing the Massachusetts Professional Emergency Manager Program.
Lt. Hubbard has been training to obtain the Professional Emergency Manager recognition for approximately four years, and has earned MEMA’s highest recognition level of Specialist. The recognition also takes into account participant’s real world work experiences, and Lt. Hubbard has extensive experience responding to major disasters and running Emergency Operations Centers.
The Massachusetts Professional Emergency Manager Program is a professional development and recognition program for emergency managers. It combines pertinent online and classroom courses with hands-on experiences, enabling participants to achieve mastery of the field.
Participants undergo a minimum of 15 training courses to achieve specialist level recognition.
Those who complete the program are better prepared to respond to disasters and emergencies, and their experience enhances not only their own capabilities but the safety of the communities they serve.
“The Town of Ipswich is fortunate to have Lt. Hubbard as the Emergency Management Director and congratulates him on the recognition from MEMA,” said Town Manager Stephen Crane. “Emergency Management is a role that is often unseen and, therefore, unappreciated by the general public because it focuses on preparedness in advance of emergencies. Lt. Hubbard has excelled in both preparing the town for and leading responses to emergencies.”
