MIDDLEBOROUGH — Police Chief Robert Ferreira and Fire Chief Owen Thompson report that the Middleborough Police and Fire Departments, along with regional and state partners, are actively searching for a missing resident.
On Thursday, March 27, at approximately 8:46 a.m., a neighbor requested a welfare check on MICHELE SPERLING, AGE 83. Police officers and firefighters arrived and found that she was not at her home.
Through a subsequent investigation, SPERLING is believed to have last been seen on Simmons Road in the Oak Point residential community at about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. She may be wearing a white jacket and dark-colored pants.
The Middleborough Police and Fire Departments are currently being assisted by several public safety assets, including drones, K9s, all-terrain vehicles, and utility-terrain vehicles, from the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC), Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and the Department of Conservation & Recreation. The State Police Air Wing is also assisting.
Residents and businesses in the area are asked to check footage from any cameras for sightings of SPERLING today and to check their sheds or outbuildings.
Residents are asked not to join the search efforts at this time to ensure that K9 trackers and technological tools can do their work.
Anyone who believes they may have seen SPERLING or has information about her whereabouts is asked to immediately call Middleborough Police at 508-947-1212.
