NEWBURYPORT — Marshal Matthew Simons is pleased to share that the Newburyport Police Department is relaunching the Project Lifesaver Program.

Eight Newburyport Police officers recently completed Project Lifesaver Basic Instructor training in preparation for the program’s relaunch.

The Project Lifesaver Program is a service provided by Newburyport Police that utilizes electronic tracking devices to assist in the location of vulnerable individuals who are prone to wandering. Project Lifesaver uses proven radio technology and specially trained search and rescue teams to help locate individuals who are known to wander or who are lost. This program is free and is offered to all residents.

Funding for the program was provided by the Newburyport Commission on Disabilities. Newburyport Police would like to recognize co-chairperson Kristen Farrell who was instrumental in this process.

Please contact Officer Michael Falite at mfalite@newburyportpolice.com  with any questions or to enroll in the program.

For more information about the program, visit the Newburyport Police Website here.
