
NEWPORT — Chief Travis Bingham reports that Newport Police partnered with the Vermont State Police Drug Task Force to make two drug-related arrests on Friday.
BRANDON COTE, AGE 34, OF NEWPORT, was charged with:
- Sale of Cocaine (Two Counts)
- Possession of Cocaine
- Possession of a Regulated Drug
ROWENA JONES, AGE 35, OF NEWPORT, was charged with:
- Possession of Cocaine
- Possession of a Regulated Drug
On Friday, Feb. 28, the Vermont State Police Drug Task Force and the Newport Police Department served a search warrant at an address on East Main Street and took COTE and JONES into custody as a result.
The arrests stemmed from a months-long drug investigation conducted by Newport detectives with the Vermont Drug Task Force into the distribution of cocaine in Newport.
COTE was arrested and processed at the Newport Police Department. COTE was ordered held at Northern State Correctional Facility on $1,000 bail for two counts of sale of cocaine and $200 bail for possession of cocaine and regulated drugs.
COTE is set to be arraigned on Monday, March 3, at 12:30 p.m. before the Vermont Superior Court, Orleans Criminal Division.
JONES was released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Orleans Criminal Division, on Tuesday, April 29, at 8:30 a.m.
