Oliver Ames High School Artists Create Award-Winning Works

EASTON — Superintendent Dr. Lisha Cabral and K-12 Art Department Chair Kristyn Shea are proud to announce that 15 advanced student artists at Oliver Ames High School have received a total of 26 recognitions in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for the Massachusetts region.

EASTON — Superintendent Dr. Lisha Cabral and K-12 Art Department Chair Kristyn Shea are proud to announce that 15 advanced student artists at Oliver Ames High School have received a total of 26 recognitions in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for the Massachusetts region, a prestigious competition that celebrates young artistic talent.

The students collectively earned 14 Silver Key awards and 12 Honorable Mentions for their exceptional work across multiple categories, including Drawing & Illustration, Painting, and Mixed Media. Some students received multiple honors for their entries.

“The Scholastic Art Awards are among the most prestigious recognitions for young artists, and for our students to receive 26 placements is a testament to their dedication, creativity, and skill,” said K-12 Art Department Chair Kristyn Shea. “We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the passion they bring to their work.”

“This is an amazing and noteworthy accomplishment,” said Superintendent Dr. Lisha Cabral. “These awards reflect not only the talent of our students but also the strength of our art program and the support they receive from their teachers.”

The following Oliver Ames High School students received Silver Key awards:

  • Jessica Bradley – Reflection (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 12)
  • Lilee Frates – Retail Therapy (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 12)
  • Taylor Marino – Rose Colored Transparency (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 12)
  • Victoria Taylor – Senior Scaries (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 12)
  • Eesha Merchia – Shattered (Painting, Grade 12)
  • Victoria Taylor – Summers with Mormor (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 12)
  • Ava Vieira – Tea with Avo (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 12)
  • Angelina Romeiro – Together Everyone Achieves More (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 11)
  • Geovanna Duarte – Torn Feelings (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 12)

  • Lilliana Banks – Textures in Tread (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 11)

  • Abigail Holmes – Weekend Drive (Painting, Grade 12)
  • Zoe Ginis – Yiayia’s Childhood Stitches (Drawing & Illustration, Grade 11)

This statewide award presentation represents the regional stage of the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, which is the country’s longest-running program recognizing the creative works of teenagers, operated by the New York-based nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

This year, the Massachusetts region received nearly 8,000 individual art entries. A total of 730 Silver Keys and 1,330 Honorable Mentions were awarded across the state.

All recipients of Silver Keys and Honorable Mentions are invited to an awards ceremony at Cohen Auditorium on the Tufts Medford Campus on Sunday, March 16.
