WAKEFIELD — Superintendent David DiBarri is pleased to report that Design & Visual Communications students at Northeast Metro Tech recently prepared mock advertising campaigns for a local automotive group.

Earlier this year, senior Design & Visual Communications students in the Studio 12 design firm which is part of Instructor Brian Peluso’s shop prepared multi-touch mock campaigns for Kelly Automotive Group, based in Danvers.

Studio 12 is run like an actual design firm so that students can learn a pathway of skills and techniques, and gain a realistic understanding of client relations and expectations.

Students who participated in the weeklong project showcased their creativity and professional competencies by incorporating branding, advertisement, promotion, production and direct mailings into their mock campaigns, which sought to promote President’s Day auto sales at Kelly Automotive Group dealerships.

Students created mock advertisements, direct mailings, logos and more to support their campaigns, and presented the results to Kelly Automotive Group Founder and CEO Brian Kelly on Jan. 31.

“I was truly impressed with the talent, poise and professionalism of Mr. Peluso’s Studio 12 designers,” Kelly said afterward. Kelly even extended a potential job offer to one of the seniors following the presentation.

“This experience was surreal, creating real-life projects and then getting to present them to such a successful and accomplished client was awesome,” said Lily Bogus, a senior from Woburn. “The fact that Mr. Kelly gave me his card and offered me an opportunity to potentially work for him was unbelievable.”

“Our Studio 12 design seniors are incredibly talented and committed, and they showed what they are already capable of professionally when they created these excellent mock campaigns for Kelly Automotive Group,” said Superintendent DiBarri. “I would also like to thank Brian Kelly for engaging with our students, looking at their campaigns, and providing the invaluable insights of an active businessman. Northeast Metro Tech seeks to engage our local business community in a variety of ways, and this was just one of them.”
