ACTON — Fire Chief Anita Arnum and Police Chief James Cogan report that the Acton Fire and Police Departments responded to an early morning house fire on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, at approximately 5:23 a.m. Acton Fire and Police responded to Arlington Street for reports of a house fire.

Acton Police arrived on scene first and were able to conduct an initial knockdown of the fire, which appeared to be coming from the fireplace. Acton Police also assisted a resident out of the home.

Acton Fire arrived on scene a short time later and confirmed that the fire was extinguished. Firefighters checked for any extensions and ventilated the home.

Damage to the home was limited. One resident was transported to an area hospital for what are believed to be minor injuries due to an unrelated incident.

Westford Fire provided station coverage to North Action Station and Littleton Fire covered South Acton Station. The Maynard and Conford Fire Departments were responding to the scene but later canceled due to the quick work by first responders in extinguishing the fire.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental but remains under investigation by the Acton Fire Department and members of the District 14 Fire Investigation Team.
