Taunton Fire Department Battle Second Alarm Fire on Forge Drive, Three Residents Displaced

TAUNTON — Chief Steven Lavigne reports that the Taunton Fire Department responded to a second alarm fire on Forge Drive Sunday morning, which resulted in significant damage and the loss of several pets.

Taunton Fire received multiple calls reporting a fire at a residence at 45 Forge Drive at 11:05 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke at the front of the home and heavy fire in the rear.

Taunton Fire responded with Car 2, Engines 5, 1, 4, and 3, along with Ladder 2. Brewster Ambulance also assisted at the scene.

One resident was inside the home at the time of the fire but was able to escape safely. No injuries were reported. However, three dogs and one cat perished in the fire.

The fire displaced three residents. Investigators from the Taunton Fire and Police Departments were requested to the scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

“We had significant flames upon arrival,” said Chief Lavigne. “Our crews worked quickly to contain the fire, but unfortunately, there was a tragic loss of pets. We extend our sympathies to the affected residents.”
