DOVER — The Town of Dover is excited to introduce the proposed Rail Trail Construction Project, a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing community connectivity and promoting outdoor recreation for residents of all ages.
Now, it is time for the public to get involved.
The project will establish a scenic recreational trail and shared-use pathway, providing residents with safe and enjoyable outdoor space.
“Our goal is to continue to create additional opportunities for outdoor activities,” said Parks and Recreation Director Mark Ghiloni. “We believe this proposed project is a valuable opportunity to add to the existing outdoor recreation assets of the town.”
This initiative has been shaped by the collaboration of multiple Town departments and committees, ensuring a well-rounded vision that reflects the needs of the community. As the project moves forward, the Town remains committed to transparency and actively seeks valuable public input throughout the process.
Public Forum – Feb. 25
To engage the community, the Town of Dover will host a public forum via Zoom Webinar at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25. This interactive session will provide an overview of the project, current conditions, and design timeline. There will also be an opportunity for residents to ask questions and share their perspectives.
“This project has the potential to enhance Dover’s recreational offerings and create new connections within the Dover community,” said Town Administrator Michael Blanchard. “We encourage as much community feedback as possible before advancing to the next stages. The public forum will provide essential insights to ensure this project aligns with Dover’s needs.”
The forum will be a platform for meaningful discussion, allowing residents to share their thoughts on key aspects of the project. Town officials will begin with a presentation, followed by insights from engineering consultants on the current conditions of the corridor and potential design elements. An interactive session will then invite public feedback, ensuring community voices help shape the final design, which will be presented at a future public forum.
At the conclusion of the forum, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an open discussion about the project and share additional input.
Residents can learn more about the project by visiting the Rail Trail Project webpage on the Town’s website. Residents who are unable to attend can submit questions or feedback through a Google Form by clicking here. Visit the Town website for access to the link to the virtual meeting by clicking here.
