NEW LONDON — Superintendent John Fortney is pleased to announce that seven Kearsarge Regional High School (KRHS) students graduated from its Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) Program.
The LNA program requires qualified juniors or seniors to complete 120 hours of coursework, both online and in-person. This includes classroom instruction in theory training and pre-clinical skills.
This is the third year students have graduated from KRHS’ LNA program. This year’s graduates are Gage Richard, Renae Purslow, Danica Janssen, Sienna Loomis, Chloe Hasey, Isabelle Dragon and Meadow Chase.
These students began their education over the summer, spending 50 hours online through River Valley Community College, before returning to school and completing a month-long pre-clinical lab experience at KRHS with direct instruction from professionals from New London Hospital.
Finally, students completed 60 hours of in-hospital clinical work at New London Hospital.
After completing their coursework, students took the LNA exam, which qualifies those who pass to work as nursing assistants in healthcare settings.
For the third consecutive year, 100 percent of KRHS students passed the exam on their first attempt.
All seven students already have job offers within the healthcare field.
“I am beyond impressed and proud of these students for committing to this program and pursuing a career-furthering education at such a young age,” said Superintendent Fortney. “These students have not even graduated high school, yet are receiving meaningful training and licensing that will benefit their futures.”
Superintendent Fortney would also like to thank New London Hospital, Dartmouth Health and River Valley Community College for their support and partnership.
