MAYNARD — Chief Angela Lawless reports that the latest addition to the Maynard Fire Department saw its first significant on-duty action on Friday afternoon.

On Friday, Jan. 10, at about 4:33 p.m., Maynard firefighters were called to 95 Powder Mill Road, a commercial property, for reports of a fire.

When firefighters arrived, it had spread to the attic. Crews struck a second alarm.

Firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire, although a portion of the roof collapsed.

No injuries were reported.

Responding to the call was the town’s newest fire engine, which just went into service Thursday.

“It’s important for us to have state-of-the-art equipment to respond to calls around town,” Chief Lawless said. “We want to thank the Town of Maynard and residents for their continued support of our department.”
