Attleboro High School Awarded $112,024 State Grant to Fund Career and Technical Education Frameworks

ATTLEBORO — Superintendent David Sawyer and Principal Kate Campbell are pleased to share that Attleboro High School was recently awarded a $112,024 Curriculum Frameworks and Competency Based Implementation grant from the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

ATTLEBORO — Superintendent David Sawyer and Principal Kate Campbell are pleased to share that Attleboro High School was recently awarded a $112,024 Curriculum Frameworks and Competency Based Implementation grant from the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

This competitive grant will support Attleboro High School in implementing the
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Frameworks using competency-based systems that intentionally and meaningfully map teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure students gain the skills and knowledge necessary for college, career, and civic engagement.

Attleboro High School will engage with DESE, students, families, and other stakeholders to implement systems that integrate career-connected learning with grade-level-aligned math, English, and science content.

“Attleboro High School is excited to be participating in the competency-based CTE
curriculum development program,” said Jeremy Guay, Associate Principal for Career and Technical Education at Attleboro High School. “We believe that this approach will provide students with clear pathways to gain essential skills and knowledge, fostering a more engaging and relevant learning experience.”

Grant funds will be used for competency-based CTE/academic curriculum integration, assessment development, and professional development.

Expected grant outcomes include:

  • Support the development of tools and resources for implementation of new CTE Frameworks using competency-based teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Embed CTE Frameworks with math, English, and science standards.
  • Engaging in student-centered and student-led career development planning.
  • Engage teachers in professional development linked directly to the curriculum and set up a process to regularly monitor the effectiveness of curriculum implementation.
  • Promote transparency and empower students to monitor and improve their own learning experiences and performance in preparation for post-secondary and/or workforce opportunities after graduation.

Additionally, all districts will share learning from this experience in the form of replicable tools, resources, artifacts, lessons and more, which the DESE will compile and make available statewide in the future.
