Union Fire District of South Kingstown Extinguishes 2-Alarm House Fire on Monday

SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Chief Steven Pinch reports that the Union Fire District of South Kingstown responded to a two-alarm house fire on Monday afternoon.

On Monday, Dec. 16, at approximately 12:58 p.m., the Union Fire District of South Kingstown was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Amos Street.

Crews arrived within minutes to find heavy fire coming from the house’s third floor. All the occupants escaped on their own before the crews arrived.

A second alarm was struck to bring additional resources to the scene.

Firefighters aggressively attacked and quickly controlled the fire, but the house sustained significant damage.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with burns to his legs. He has since been released from the hospital. No one else was injured as a result of the fire.

Crews from the Narragansett Fire Department, North Kingstown Fire Department, Richmond Carolina Fire District,  Exeter Fire Department, Hope Valley Wyoming Fire District and Charlestown Rescue provided mutual aid.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Union Fire District Fire Marshal’s Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
