PLAINVILLE — Acting Chief Robert Skinner is pleased to share that the Plainville Fire Department will host a “Bucket Brigade” through its Senior SAFE Program to provide buckets of sand and salt to seniors in the community.
The Plainville Fire Department’s Senior SAFE Program is once again partnering with the Plainville Council on Aging and the Plainville Department of Public Works to distribute buckets of a salt/sand mix to senior residents. The program will run from Dec. 1 throughout the winter months.
Plainville Lowe’s has generously donated five-gallon buckets for firefighters to fill and deliver to homes throughout the community. The sand and salt mixture can be spread on icy spots, reducing the chances of slip-and-fall injuries.
The free service is available to Plainville residents who are unable to get sand for themselves. Interested residents can sign up at the Plainville Senior Center, 9 School St., or by calling the Plainville Fire Department at 509-695-5252.
“We are happy to be holding the Bucket Brigade again this year and assist our community’s seniors throughout the winter season,” Acting Chief Skinner said. “I highly encourage residents to utilize this service. We also wish to thank the Plainville Council on Aging, the Plainville Department of Public Works, and the Plainville Lowe’s for their help in making this event happen.”
Any questions about the program can be directed to the Plainville Fire Department at 508-695-5252.
