TYNGSBOROUGH — Police Chief Shaun Woods reports that the Tyngsborough Police Department is participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign this December as part of the Municipal Road Safety Grant Program.
The campaign, which aims to reduce impaired driving, will run throughout the month and will include increased police patrols to detect and apprehend operators under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The extra patrols are being funded using a portion of a $24,803 Municipal Road Safety Grant from the Office of Grants and Research.
The Tyngsborough Police Department reminds the community that impaired driving is not only illegal but also a leading cause of motor vehicle accidents and fatalities. Officers will be out in force this December, pulling over drivers who show signs of impairment and enforcing the law to prevent tragedies before they happen.
The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is part of a nationwide effort to improve road safety and save lives.
“Driving impaired endangers everyone on the road,” said Chief Woods. “Through this campaign, we aim to make our roads safer during the holiday season. We encourage everyone to plan ahead — designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or find another safe way home. If you’re impaired, don’t drive.”
Tyngsborough Police urge residents to celebrate responsibly, stay alert on the roads, and report suspected impaired drivers to local authorities.
“Together, we can ensure that everyone gets home safely this holiday season,” said Chief Woods.
