GROVELAND — Police Chief Jeffrey Gillen and Fire Chief Robert Valentine report that the Groveland Police and Fire Departments responded to a rollover crash that required one person to be extricated on Friday morning.

On Friday, Nov. 29, at about 8:48 a.m., Groveland Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of 7 Wood St. for reports of a motor vehicle that had crashed into the woods and rolled over, possibly trapping occupants in the vehicle.

Groveland Police Det. Danielle Burrill arrived on scene to find a Chevrolet Truck rolled over about 100 feet off of the road in the wooded area with two occupants trapped inside.

Det. Burrill was able to remove the driver from the truck.

Responding crews from Groveland Fire extricated the passenger from the vehicle using a hydraulic cutting tool.

Both occupants were transported to Lawrence General Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Georgetown Fire provided mutual aid on-scene, assisting in extricating the passenger, providing medical care to occupants and clearing the vehicle from the accident scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Groveland Police Department, but it is believed that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency that resulted in the crash.

“As always, Groveland Police and Fire worked together seamlessly to ensure both occupants got out of the vehicle in a safe and timely manner. Our collaborative efforts ensured that all crews operated efficiently and effectively, providing the utmost care and professionalism” said Chief Valentine. “I would also like to thank Georgetown Fire for their support. Their response provided necessary manpower and increased our capabilities on scene and as always, we are thankful to have their assistance.”
