BARNSTABLE — Superintendent Sara Ahern and Orchestra Director Elijah Langille are pleased to highlight Barnstable Public Schools’ recent participation in the All Cape Music Festival Auditions.
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, 75 Barnstable High School students participated in the All Cape Auditions.
“This year, we broke the existing record with an astonishing 75 students auditioning from Barnstable High School,” Orchestra Director Langille said. “This is a remarkable achievement and truly speaks to our student musicians’ incredible talent and dedication.”
Orchestra Director Langille, who is also the 6-12 Performing Arts Department Head for Barnstable Public Schools, thanked district staff for their unwavering support and collaboration in accommodating the students’ participation.
“This was an incredible showing by our talented Barnstable High School musicians,” Superintendent Ahern said. “We are thrilled to have so many students audition for the All Cape Music Festival and know they will put on an incredible show next year. I would like to thank Orchestra Director Elijah Langille for organizing this tremendous effort.”
Barnstable students had the opportunity to compete against top musicians from throughout Cape Cod and the Islands, and students placed in each Festival Honors Ensemble.
“This is a testament to the exceptional training and guidance they receive from our outstanding music faculty and the support they have received from all of you,” Orchestra Director Langille said.
Barnstable students selected to participate in the Festival Treble Choir include Averie Thomas, Kiera Hughes, Lylah Crawley, Sulan Rodriguez, Aberle Norton, Ashley Fajardo, Izabela de Assis, Nariah Turner, Niveah Silva, Rafaela Tomazinho, Sophia Lewis and Triniece Clegg.
The Festival SATB Choir includes Barnstable students Delilah DeYoung, Isabella Crawley, Keely Touhey, Lilian Hughes, Martina Ibarra Suarez, Taylor Foley, Azaria Braga, Cyana Childs, Nicole Coffler and Damien McCloy.
Barnstable students taking part in the Festival Orchestra include Haylie-Parker Voravong, Eleanor Bullock, Sophia Rollo, Jozachare Brown, Mayte Dutra, Julia Nunes, Daniel Gomes, Sarah Silva, Madeline Crosson, Sora Bartlet, Kayro Dos Santos, Charlotte Dubner and Isaac Hill.
And the following Barnstable students will perform with the Festival Concert Band: Audrey Gonzalez, Elizabeth Gayton, Lily Raposo, Daniel DeSousa, Olivia Cammarano, Josephine Jordan, Jake Cross, Alexander McGrath, Mary Steinhildber and Moses Winslow.
The All Cape Music Festival will take place Friday, Jan. 31, and Feb. 1, 2025, at Barnstable High School.
“Please join me in celebrating this impressive accomplishment,” Orchestra Director Langille said.
Additionally, the Barnstable Performing Arts Department sent 18 students to the CCMEA Southeastern Festival, where six students were recognized with honors and admitted to the festival in January, competing against the best musicians across the Commonwealth.
The Barnstable Performing Arts Pathway offers a comprehensive education in theater, music production, and ensemble-based performance, allowing all students to explore their artistic passions and develop their talents. The department aims to equip students with the technical skills, critical thinking, and social skills necessary for their future success. By fostering a deep appreciation for the arts, the program empowers students to collaborate and contribute to the vibrant Barnstable community and beyond.
