LENOX — Principal Dr. Jeremiah Ames is pleased to share that Lenox Memorial Middle High School (LMMHS) will host the Arcis Saxophone Quartet for a performance this Friday.
The Arcis Saxophone Quartet will perform for students at LMMHS on Friday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m.
The Quartet will present an approximately one-hour program specifically for students that is shaped around the following elements:
- Discover the Magic of Music. The students will be introduced to the Quartet’s music and explore the saxophone’s sounds in a way that sparks their curiosity.
- Meet Adolphe Sax. The Quartet shares the story of the saxophone inventor Adolphe Sax and how his creativity shaped the world of music.
- Hands-On Saxophone Experience. In this interactive segment, the students get a chance to see how the saxophone works — and even try playing a few notes themselves.
- Make Music Together. The grand finale is all about participation. The students join the Quartet in making music, whether by conducting or with body percussion, creating an experience they’ll never forget.
The Arcis Saxophone Quartet will perform at the Linde Center for Music and Learning as part of the Tanglewood Learning Institute’s (TLI) year-round programming. Since they are also educators, the Quartet reached out to a colleague, retired teacher and superintendent William Ballen, who is a longtime Boston Symphony Orchestra Volunteer Association member and still deeply involved in the Berkshires educational community. He connected the Quartet with Principal Ames.
For students who are especially excited about the performance and want to hear them again, the Arcis Saxophone Quartet will present a concert on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. in Studio E at the Linde Center.
“We want the community to know that as the amount of year-round programming at TLI increases, and more guest musicians come to the Berkshires, we want to make the most of these opportunities to interact with students and the community, and to be a part of ongoing arts education for people of all ages,” said Mark Rulison, Production Manager at Tanglewood Learning Institute.
