SWANSEA — Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein and Swansea Parks and Recreation Department Director John Pozzi are pleased to share that the Town recently hosted a successful Trunk or Treat event.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, the Swansea Parks and Recreation Department held a two-hour Trunk or Treat event with hayrides at Memorial Park.

Sixteen participants, including businesses, organizations, and residents, filled the parking lot with vehicles adorned with Halloween decorations. Participants handed out candy and other treats to a few hundred children dressed in costumes.

The participants included Swansea Fire, Swansea Police, Swansea Board of Health, Swansea Highway Department/Public Works, Swansea Animal Shelter, Swansea Girl Scouts, Swansea Boy Scouts, Swansea Little League, Walmart, BankFive, Waring-Sullivan Funeral and Cremation Service, and residents.

The event featured hayrides around the parking lot where the vehicles were set up, a bean bag toss, a net from Swansea Little League that children could throw balls into, and a basketball game with small hoops in the back of a truck. Swansea Fire provided a fog machine to help create a Halloween-like atmosphere.

“This event is one of my favorites because it is all about family fun with the community,” Town Administrator Aronstein said. “I thank the Parks and Recreation Commission for putting it all together and gathering so many community groups to join the celebration.”

“We were thrilled with the incredible turnout for this year’s Trunk or Treat event,” Director Pozzi said. “This event couldn’t have happened without the entire community’s support. I want to give a special thanks to the Swansea Public Works employees who helped make this such a great success. Seeing so many families and kids in costume enjoying a safe and festive Halloween celebration was wonderful. The creative trunk decorations and community spirit made the event truly special. Everyone in attendance had a great time, and we are confident that next year’s event will be even bigger and better.”
