MENDON — Superintendent Dr. Maureen Cohen and Principal Robin Benoit are proud to announce that the Miscoe Hill Middle School Girls Volleyball team and Coach Bill McInnis will be presenting a ceremonial check to a representative from the Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation tomorrow in recognition of the team’s successful “Dig Pink” fundraising month.

WHEN:

Friday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.

WHERE:

Miscoe Hill Middle School Gymnasium, 148 North Ave., Mendon

WHAT:

The Miscoe Hill Middle School Girls Volleyball team will celebrate their successful month of “Dig Pink” fundraising for breast cancer research at Milford Regional Hospital. To recognize their accomplishments, the team and Coach McInnis will present a ceremonial check to a Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation representative.

The presentation will take place during the last block of the day at 2 p.m. Afterward, the team will play the middle school teachers in a scrimmage for the school to watch.

Throughout October, the team raised money for breast cancer research by selling homemade concessions during games and offering breast cancer awareness bracelets to their supporters. They also held a “Buck-a-Bump” event, where supporters pledged to donate $1 for every successful bump players executed during the game.

Together the team and the Mendon-Upton community raised over $3,000 for breast cancer research.

“We are extremely proud of the team for organizing these fundraising events and providing support to this cause,” Superintendent Cohen said. “These girls have shown dedication and hard work throughout the month, and I am pleased that this celebration will allow the school to support their accomplishments and recognize their efforts.”
