Groveland Water and Sewer Department Announces Water Use Restrictions Amid Regional Level-1 Drought Declaration

GROVELAND — Superintendent Colin Stokes and the Groveland Water and Sewer Department report that the town is under water restrictions following a mild drought declaration in the Northeast region of Massachusetts.

GROVELAND — Superintendent Colin Stokes and the Groveland Water and Sewer Department report that the town is under water restrictions following a mild drought declaration in the Northeast region of Massachusetts.

On Friday, Oct. 18, the Department was informed by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs that a Level-1 Mild Drought had been declared in the Central and Northeast regions of the state.

Due to amendments made to the Water Management Act in 2023, the Town is required to implement water restrictions based on decisions made by State agencies.

Due to the drought declaration, all non-essential outdoor water use is restricted to no more than one day per week, before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m.

Watering of ornamental or flower gardens with drip irrigation, hand-held hoses or watering cans is permitted.

These restrictions do not impact private well owners.

Water restrictions will remain in effect until further notice by the State.
