LUDLOW — The Town of Ludlow and Ludlow Public Schools are pleased to invite the community to celebrate the grand opening of the new Ludlow High School athletic complex during an event this Friday evening.
WHEN:
Friday, Oct. 11, starting at 6 p.m.
WHERE:
Ludlow High School, 500 Chapin St., Ludlow
WHAT:
Efforts to rebuild and modernize the Ludlow High School athletic complex began back in 2008. After a long public process, community support and construction, Ludlow Public Schools is unveiling the new track, synthetic turf field, LED lights, new scoreboards, and updated baseball fields.
The project will provide many benefits to the community and surrounding area, including strengthening community bonds, promoting youth development, boosting local pride, increasing economic and cultural impact, and encouraging health and well-being.
“This new athletic complex signifies progress, pride, and the continued growth of a community that values education, sportsmanship, and the well-being of its members,” said Ludlow Public Schools Athletic Director Tim Brillo.
The District and Town are inviting the community to attend the upcoming Ludlow Lions football game and ribbon-cutting event on Oct. 11 to celebrate the official opening of the new complex.
The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a pregame ceremony. There will be a dedication of the POW/MIA Chair, followed by the presentation of the colors by the Ludlow Veterans Services Color Guard. The LHS band and chorus will perform the National Anthem.
Kickoff of the game between LHS and South Hadley will take place at 6:30 p.m.
A half-time field celebration will recognize the contributions of all involved in the athletic complex project. Members of the School Committee, Ludlow Board of Selectmen, Town and School Administration, and LHS athletes and coaches will gather to unveil a plaque and cut the ceremonial ribbon.
“With this new athletic complex, we are not just investing in facilities; we are investing in the potential of our students. This project provides a safe and competitive environment that will further foster the teamwork, resilience, and sense of community for which Ludlow is known,” said Superintendent Frank Tiano. “I am appreciative of the Board of Selectmen’s decision to support our students when the funds became available.”
“We are so happy for Ludlow students and their families. The new athletic complex is a premier facility that will serve our community for years to come,” said Town Administrator Marc Strange. “Kudos to Tim Brillo and his team for sticking with this effort over the years, and credit to the Board of Selectmen for using the town’s American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds on such an important project.”
