TAUNTON — Superintendent Dr. Alexandre Magalhaes and Principal Karen Guenette are pleased to share that Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical senior Lily Dagenais has been named a Commended Student in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.

As a Commended Student, Dagenais is recognized for her academic achievement of scoring among the 50,000 highest scorers nationwide on the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“For a long time when I was in elementary and middle school, learning came very easy to me, but in high school I had to implement more things to help me academically, such as putting time aside for studying and quizzing,” Dagenais said. “Having strong support from my family has helped me achieve my high school goals and I’m really thankful for them.”

Dagenais is a senior community health student. She is applying to the University of Pennsylvania for criminology and is also visiting other schools this fall. She plans to attend a school within a six-hour drive from her hometown of Freetown.

Dagenais will receive a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, and from the district.

“We are immensely proud of Lily for qualifying as a Commended Student,” Superintendent Magalhaes said. “This achievement is a testament to her drive and hard work in her academics, and I am grateful that she’s being recognized for her accomplishments.”
