PETERBOROUGH — Interim Superintendent Dr. Ann Forrest and Principal Heather McKillop share that beginning Monday significant support will be provided to ConVal High School students and staff who will be dealing with the untimely deaths of a current and former student in recent days.

As with any such incident, ConVal High School school counselors, student support counselors, and social workers will be available starting Monday to any student or staff member. Further, the district will be supported by counselors from the Disaster Behavioral Health Response Team, under the direction of the state Department of Health and Human Services.

A team of therapy dogs from Cold Springs Healing Paws in New Ipswich also will be on the school campus to provide comfort and support.

The District has been in touch with their family resource centers, The Grapevine and The River Center, to coordinate support across the week. Additionally, the District will be reaching out to their community partners at Monadnock Family Services and Monadnock Community Hospital for added support to the many communities that make up the ConVal School District.

“The loss of a friend or classmate can be deeply traumatic, and we recognize that students may return to school on Monday carrying a range of emotions, questions, and concerns,” shared Principal McKillop.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Forrest added, “Supporting our students, staff, and families during this difficult time is our top priority right now. We have planned support for Monday, and we are also planning for support across the week.”

Interim Superintendent Dr. Forrest and Principal McKillop wish to thank the numerous members of the Conval community, as well as individuals from around the state, who have reached out to offer assistance and support during this difficult time.
